Adamawa guber: Binani, Fintiri know fate today

The Court of Appeal in Abuja is set to deliver its judgment today, December 18, in the ongoing legal battle over the Adamawa State Governorship election between the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and their respective governorship candidates.informationguidenigeria

This highly anticipated decision comes after the judgment was initially reserved since December 5.

The dispute revolves around the March 18 governorship election, contested between Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani of the APC and the incumbent Governor, Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP.

Governor Fintiri was declared the winner by the Adamawa State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal.

A judgment delivery notice was seen by DAILY POST and has reportedly been served on the legal teams of both Binani and Fintiri.

During the hearings, a three-member panel of justices heard arguments from both sides. Akin Olujimi, SAN, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, represented Binani and the APC, appealing for the Tribunal’s judgment affirming Fintiri and the PDP’s election victory to be overturned.

On the other hand, the respondents – INEC, Fintiri, and the PDP, through their counsels, urged the court to dismiss the appeal, deeming it incompetent and lacking merit.JAMB Result

Previously, the Adamawa State Governorship Electoral Petitions Tribunal, led by Justice T. O. Uloho, had dismissed Binani’s petition, which sought to invalidate Fintiri’s declaration as the election winner by INEC.

The Tribunal’s judgment upheld Fintiri’s victory, but today’s impending decision by the Court of Appeal could potentially alter the political landscape in Adamawa State.
