Appeal Court verdict temporary setback, says Zamfara gov

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has responded to the recent verdict of the Court of Appeal, which declared the March 18 governorship poll in the state inconclusive, by referring to it as a temporary setback. Despite this setback, he remains determined and confident about his position.

In a statement released by his spokesperson, Sulaiman Idris, Governor Lawal disclosed that his legal team is currently reviewing the judgment to decide on the next appropriate course of action. The appellate court’s decision came after the All Progressives Congress candidate, Bello Matawalle, challenged the election results, claiming that Lawal was not duly elected. Consequently, the court ordered a rerun in three local government areas: Maradun, Birnin-Magaji, and Bukkuyum.InformationGuideNigeria

Governor Lawal, however, expressed his unwavering resolve to maintain the mandate he believes was granted to him by the people of Zamfara State. He attributed his election to the public’s dissatisfaction with the previous status quo in the state, implying a desire for change among the electorate.JAMB Portal
