With 371 votes, Atiku defeated the governor of Rivers State, who received 237 votes, to win the presidential primary.

After Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa was named governor of Delta State following the primaries, a split developed between Atiku and Wike.

Fast-forward, the PDP National Executive Committee will meet today, Thursday, where the party’s turmoil is anticipated to take centre stage.
Since Atiku’s ascent, the opposition party has been mired in a turmoil.Iyorchia Ayu, the party’s national chairperson, has been called upon to quit by Wike’s supporters, who believe that the presidential candidate and the party chairman, Walid Jibrin, should not be from the same region.

On Wednesday, there were rumours that Jibrin may retire in an effort to diffuse the situation.

According to reports, Jibrin confided in two members of the National Working Committee about his decision to resign after expressing concerns about the state of the opposition party.

An NWC member in Abuja on Wednesday verified the situation and said Jubrin had personally informed him of it.

Jibrin claimed it was unjust because the PDP’s presidential candidate, national chairman, and BoT chairman were all from the country’s north.

Jubrin’s decision to step down from his position was confirmed by a reliable source close to the BoT chairman, who said, “Mr. Jibrin indicated he was troubled by the way things are going in the party; having him, the national chairman, and the presidential candidate from the North. Although he has not yet specified a date for submitting his resignation letter, he has sought guidance about his desire to give his resignation.

Calls to the BoT chairman’s phone were being made, but he could not be reached for comment. On his decision to resign from his position, he had not yet replied to a text.

The BoT chair is planning to retire, but PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba claimed he was not aware of this and that he would only be able to respond once the party received the resignation letter.JAMB Result
