August water transportation fare rose to N974.26 – NBS

The average water transportation fare paid in August 2022 increased to N974.26, according to the National Bureau of Statistics, representing a 0.87 percent month-over-month rise from N965.82 in July 2022.Information Guide Nigeria

According to reports, Borno had the lowest water transport fare at N348.02 while Rivers and Delta State had the highest rates at N3,275.00 and N2,900.00, respectively.

The bureau reports that from N848.36 in August 2021, the cost of water transportation increased by 14.84% on an annual basis.

Data from the report showed that, from N60,811.76 in July 2022 to N65,041.89 in August 2022, the average fare paid by air travellers on specified routes for a single flight increased by 6.96% month over month.

“On a year-on-year basis, the fare rose by 76.72% from 36,805.41 in August 2021,” NBS said.

The bureau further noted that “in August 2022 Delta had the highest air transport fare (for specific routes single journey) with N76,000.00, Adamawa N70,500,00, while Jigawa, Nasarawa, Osun, Niger, and Gombe recorded the least with N60,000.00 each.”

The highest motorbike transport fare in August 2022 was N720.17 in Kwara State, while N660.26 was charged in Lagos. Edo recorded the lowest amount at N170.26.

Similar to this, Borno had the lowest water transport fare at N348.02, followed by Rivers with N2,900.00, and Delta State with N3,275.00.

In terms of zones, it was found that in August 2022, South-South had the highest air transport fare with N67,366.67, followed by North-East with N66,950.00. With N62,235.71, North-Central had the least.JAMB Result]
