Basketmouth unveiled as headliner for ‘Last One Laughing’ comedy show

LOL: ‘Last One Laughing Naija,’ Prime Video’s first unscripted African Original, will premiere on July 14th, and will be hosted by ace comic Basketmouth. This and other details were presented at a spectacular press conference in Lagos on Thursday.Information Guide Nigeria

Alli Baba, Nigeria’s patriarch of stand-up comedy, hosted the event. The humour maestro did not disappoint as expected. His spontaneous presentations literally shattered everyone’s ribs. Also in attendance were Prime Video’s Head of African and Middle East Originals, Ned Mitchell, Head of Nigerian Originals, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, the complete cast, and other members of staff.

The six-part series explores the comedians’ wits as they compete to be the Last One Laughing. There is just one rule. You lose because you laugh. The last comedian to keep a straight face after six hours of performance wins the grand prize. He or she is required to donate the entire N40 million to a local charity of his or her choosing. The goal is to use all humorous tactics to make other contestants laugh while resisting the impulse to do the same. The series was created by Amazon Studios in conjunction with Nigeria’s LiveSpot360 Productions and will be available on Prime Video in over 240 countries.
