Dani Alves faces trial for alleged rape in February

Alves, a celebrated former Barcelona full-back, has been in custody in Spain following his arrest in January. Prosecutors in the case are seeking a nine-year prison sentence for Alves and have also demanded that he pay the alleged victim a sum of 150,000 euros ($163,500) as compensation.NYSC Portal

The 40-year-old footballer has consistently claimed that the encounter with the accuser was consensual. In his first interview since the arrest, conducted in June and published by the Barcelona-based newspaper La Vanguardia, Alves stated, “I have a really clear conscience regarding what happened that night in the bathroom of the VIP area of the Sutton nightclub.”JAMB Portal
