Father defiles daughter for 12 years, jailed 21 years

Akin Isaac, 52, was given a 21-year term on Thursday by an Ikeja Special Offenses Court for 12 years of raping his 18-year-old daughter in Lagos State.

The defendant entered a guilty plea to the only count brought against him by the Lagos State Government, and Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo accordingly sentenced him to 21 years in jail.Information Guide Nigeria

During the arraignment, Omowumi Bajulaye-Bishi, the state’s prosecutor, informed the court that Isaac defiled his daughter from the age of six to the age of 18.

The offense committed, according to the prosecution, violated Section 137 of the 2015 Criminal Law Cap. C.17 Vol. 3 Laws of Lagos State.

She held, “I knew this case very well, I could remember the survivor was crying when giving evidence before the court that she had abortion and how the defendant had beaten her.

“The prosecution had called four witnesses who testified against the defendant. The defendant initially pleaded not guilty.

“The defendant also attempted to procure abortion for her and regularly administer drugs to her to prevent pregnancy.

“Trial commenced on February 7, 2022, in which the prosecution called four witnesses before the defendant approached the prosecution to change his plea.JAMB Result
