FG revokes 3,402 mining titles

The Federal Government has revoked the titles of 3,402 businesses for failing to comply with the terms of their licences.Information Guide Nigeria

Thursday in Abuja, the Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, Mr. Obadiah Nkom, disclosed the information during a State House briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team.

Nkom stated that NMCO revoked the mining rights of non-compliant companies.

In addition, he revealed that the NMCO generated more than N3.7 billion in 2022.

He siad, “And, we are very transparent; if you need the Certified True Copy of any document, an application belonging to anybody or any licence or whatever, the law permits us to give it to you.

“Because anything we are doing can be a subject to litigation; like we said, in terms of revoked titles, recently, we published a list of defaulters numbering 3,032 and we have revoked titles of 3,402.NYSC portal

“And, we equally have people that have grants; they have been communicated, but when you cancel it, you see lawyers writing us about following the provisions.

Nkom also stated that some applicants who had applied for licences had yet to collect them, and that these defaulters should be published prior to any action being taken.

You send letters to the applicant’s address, and if he does not rectify the issue within 30 days, you revoke your gazette. As much as we appreciate the communication, some individuals will look for excuses to give in court, but once it has been published in the gazette, we will post it on our website so that you have no excuses.

“The gazette is final; we now have those ones to arm ourselves so that at the end of the day, we know what it is to lose a case,’’ he said.JAMB Result
