Governor Adeleke Refuses Osun Tribunal Ruling, Promises To Appeal

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State, has rejected the Friday tribunal judgement that removed him from office.Information Guide Nigeria

Adeleke, who ran for governor on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) platform on July 16, 2016, defeated his All Progressives Congress (APC) opponent, Gboyega Oyetola, and was proclaimed the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Oyetola, on the other hand, had petitioned the election petition tribunal in August to contest Adeleke’s victory, claiming that there was over-voting in 749 polling units across 10 LGAs in the state.NYSC portal

The Tribunal, in its decision on Friday, ordered INEC to revoke Adeleke’s certificate of return and award it to Oyetola, whom it stated had won the poll.
