Niger Junta: Tinubu Writes Senate, Requests Support

When the military junta seized power in Niger Republic, leaders of West African nations shouted blue murder. As leader of ECOWAS, President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria and his colleagues mooted the idea of deploying sub-regional forces to dislodge the coupists. THE NEWS reports.InformationGuideNigeria

Tinubu has taken a step further by writing the Senate seeking its support on the deployment of military personnel to the Niger Republic.

Apart from this, Tinubu wanted the National Assembly to grant his wish to cut off electricity to the country.

The President’s letter read, “Political situation in Niger. Following the unfortunate political situation in Niger Republic culminating in the overthrow of its President, ECOWAS under my leadership condemned the coup in its entirety and resolved to seek the return of the democratically elected govt in a bid to restore peace, ECOWAS convened a meeting and came out with a communique.NYSC Portal

Military buildup and deployment of personnel for military intervention to enforce compliance of the military junta in Niger should they remain recalcitrant.
