Ogoni group sues FG to court over claimed contempt

The Incorporated Trustees of Ekere Piya Ogoni Initiative has commenced contempt proceedings before a Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt against the Minister of Environment, Mohammed Hassan-Andullahi, and the Minister of State for Environment, Udi Odum for alleged disregard to court orders. DAILY POST reports that the Incorporated Trustees of Ekere Piya Ogoni Initiative had on the 15th of February, 2023, secured an order of the court, suspending the planned flag-off of Ogoni Power Project.

The order also restrained the first and second defendants from taking any action as regards the subject matter in the suit.

They revealed in the court proceedings that the first and second defendants in the suit had gone ahead to mobilize workers for the Ogoni Power Project Right of Way to carry out survey, mapping, and other activities preparatory to flagging off the said project, as well as engagement with community development committees in relation to the project.

DAILY POST reports that the process has been served on both parties, awaiting a date for hearing by the trial Judge, Justice Ayua of the Federal High Court sitting in PortHarcourt.JAMB Result
