About FUPRE

Brief History of FUPRE
The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun (FUPRE), Delta State, Nigeria was established in March 2007 under a Federal Government of Nigeria initiative to build a specialized University to produce unique high-level manpower and relevant expertise for the Oil & Gas sector in Nigeria and worldwide.
At first, it occupied the PTI Conference centre, Effurun Delta state, which is few kilometres away from the permanent site. The new site covered large hectares of land generously leased by the chiefs and people of the Uviwe kingdom. Homtom S16 price in Nigeria
FUPRE is the first of its kind in Africa and it is destined to be the premier international institution of choice with state-of-the-art facilities to provide the petroleum and allied sectors, world-class education, training, research, consultancy, and extension services.
FUPRE organise its academic activities along college lines. Under this arrangement, related Departments are grouped to form a College without an intervening tier of faculties.
Colleges are by no means self-sufficient as the University encourages an inter-disciplinary approach to all its teaching and research activities. Npower recruitment
The foundational College of the University was College of science with 113 foundation students. The foundation students began their courses at FUPRE, in May, 2007.
The College not only enrolls its own students but serves as a support for other colleges to be established. The General Studies and Entrepreneurship Unit was also established in the College to coordinate all programmes of the University aiming at producing rounded graduates with entrepreneurial skills. Notable Achievements of FUPRE
Some of the notable achievements of the institution are:-
- The development of the Delta Cruz prototype race car, which won the overall best awards at the 2015 Shell Eco-Marathon race competition in South Africa by the students of FUPRE.
- Research on Ground Robotic Oil Spill Surveillance (GROSS) won the OTL Africa Downstream Innovation Award and the school research team has advanced on the construction of mini-refinery as a response to the challenges of fuel supply chain in the country.”
- The launch of FUPRE’s Anthem, which reflects the institution’s mission and vision as a world-class school for oil and gas.
- The ability to refine good character, conduct, and learning in students in the institution and in the society at large.

Challenges Facing FUPRE
Despite the core achievement at the institution has faced some challenges which among them are:
1. Lack of Establishment Act
Saturday Vanguard gathered that though the Bill for the establishment of FUPRE was passed last November by the two chambers of the National Assembly, it is still awaiting the assent of the President. This has actually hindered full-scale operations of the university in terms of industry-stakeholders responsibilities.
2. Inadequate infrastructure
Besides the academic infrastructure that is insufficient for learning and research, social infrastructure is also non-existent. Staff housing, sports complex, convocation arena, students center, and guests’ house/staff club are some of the facilities needed.
3. Poor Funding System
funding has become a great challenge in the realization of the full potentials of the specialized institution. The private sector players and spirited individuals should support the institution in raising additional funds for the development of adequate infrastructure for its optimal performance. JAMB Result
