Many governors, including Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, and Samuel Ortom of Benue State, have called on Ayu to resign from his position.
Even though Atiku’s campaign for president had previously stated that Ayu would stay, this has brought about another twist.
The PDP presidential candidate Atiku’s camp has asked that Ayu, the party’s national chairman, keep his position.
In response to the demand for Ayu’s resignation, the party chairman would continue in his position, according to Dino Melaye, spokesman for the Atiku Presidential Campaign Organization.
He added that Ayu would be in charge of the party until Atiku won the presidency in 2023.
