BREAKING: Two abducted MAPOLY students, others regain freedom

Two students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Adigun Agbaje, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, were reportedly freed after two days in a kidnappers’ lair.

Olayemi Adejare and Oluwatobi Orekoya, two MAPOLY students, were kidnapped together with Agbaje on their way to Ibadan on Friday.

The students and professor were reportedly abducted at Sat Guru Maharaji Garden, at the Ibadan terminus of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The kidnappers contacted the families of their victims and wanted N50 million for Agbaje’s release and N10 million for each of the students.

However, according to information obtained by The PUNCH, students and other kidnapped victims were released on Sunday evening after the ransom was paid.

According to reports, N2.2 million was given to secure the release of Orekoya and her friend, Aminat Taiwo.

According to unconfirmed allegations, Adejare and the professor paid an undisclosed sum of money prior to their release.

The close relative of Orekoya, Segun Orekoya, confirmed her release to our reporter.

He said, “It is confirmed, they have been released this evening. The two girls were released after the kidnappers collected N2. 2 million ransom. Jamb Result 

“They are presently home with their families, but I am not at the family’s house right now, I don’t have the full details, but I know they have been released.”
