Nigerians React As FG Set To Obey Supreme Court Order On Old Naira Notes

Online users have reacted to the comment by the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami.Information Guide Nigeria

Malami said that the federal government would obey the order of the Supreme Court for the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to suspend the scheduled deadline for the use of the old naira notes, NAIJA NEWS reports.

Recall that the apex court, in a unanimous ruling, stopped the Federal Government, CBN, and commercial banks from implementing the February 10 deadline.

Following the ruling, Abubakar Malami, on behalf of the federal government, filed a preliminary objection to challenge the order of the Supreme Court.

Malami who spoke during an appearance on Arise News on Thursday, said the government will comply with the ruling until the order is set aside.

He faulted the order by the supreme court on the premise that the CBN was not joined in the suit that was filed by the governments of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states.
