Ebonyi govt proposes N204 billion estimate for 2024 budget

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has announced a proposed state budget of N204 billion for the fiscal year 2024.

In a statement made at the Community-Based Input on Proposed 2024 Budget in Abakaliki, Nwifuru emphasized that the budget would reflect the “people’s chatter of needs” in the state.

Focusing on key priority areas, the governor highlighted education, works, health, and human capital development as the top sectors for investment in the coming year. A significant initiative under human capital development includes engaging citizens in skill acquisition programs.NYSC Portal

In terms of education, the government aims to invest significantly in the sector, with plans to offer scholarships for master’s programs to no less than 300 graduates. Additionally, there will be efforts to revamp both primary and secondary education levels in the state.

The state Commissioner for Finance, Leonard Uguru, provided further details on the budget allocation, revealing that N132.8 billion is designated for capital expenditure, while N71.3 billion is allocated for recurrent spending.
