NJC finally unveils 11 justices for Supreme Court bench

The National Judicial Council (NJC) of Nigeria has taken a significant step in strengthening the judiciary by recommending 11 justices for appointment to the Supreme Court bench. This recommendation was part of the NJC’s decisions at its 104th meeting held in Abuja on December 6, 2023. Alongside the Supreme Court appointments, the council also recommended six Heads of Courts and 26 other Judicial Officers.JAMB Result

The NJC’s Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, announced the names of the recommended justices, including Justices Jummai Hannatu Sankey, Chidiebere Nwaoma Uwa, Chioma Egondu Nwosu-Iheme, Haruna Simon Tsammani, Moore Aseimo A. The statement from the NJC also noted that the appointments to the Supreme Court bench would be finalized following the approval of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and confirmation by the Senate.

Similarly, the appointments of various Heads of Courts will be completed upon approval by their respective state governors and confirmation by the State Houses of Assembly.
