EFCC secures conviction of 37 internet fraudsters in Oyo, Ogun

The Ibadan Zonal Command of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has successfully convicted 37 individuals for internet-related offenses in Oyo and Ogun States.InformationGuideNigeria

This significant achievement was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by Dele Oyewale, Head of Media and Publicity Unit of the EFCC.JAMB Portal

These convictions were secured before various justices in the Oyo State High Court, Ibadan, and the Ogun State High Court, Abeokuta, between November and December of this year. The individuals were arraigned on charges related to internet fraud and have now been found guilty.JAMB Result

As part of the sentences, the convicts are required to make restitution to their victims and forfeit all items recovered from them, including seven exotic cars, to the Federal Government of Nigeria. This forfeiture is a common practice in cases involving financial crimes, aiming to not only penalize the offenders but also to strip them of the proceeds of their illegal activities.NYSC Portal

Oyewale noted that these individuals began their path to correctional facilities following their arrest by EFCC operatives. They were subsequently investigated, prosecuted, and finally convicted for their various crimes.

The list of convicts includes a range of individuals, each of whom has now faced the legal consequences of their actions.
