Rahmon Adedoyin, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola were brought to the court by the officials of the Nigeria Correctional Centre.

Justice Ojo, the presiding judge, told the court that the sitting was for the adoption of written addresses but for some applications filed.

Counsel to the defendants in their applications prayed the court not to recognise counsel to the defendants, Falana and Fatima Adesina, for their failure to state the capacity upon which they were acting on behalf of the Attorney General of Osun State in the case.NYSC Portal

According to them, Falana cannot act on behalf of the family and also on behalf of the Attorney General of the State in the same case.

Responding, Falana said he is not bound by the law to produce the fiat but challenged the locus standi of the prosecution counsel, urging the court to reject their applications in the interest of justice.

Justice Ojo promised to rule on all the applications alongside the final judgement.

While counsel to the defendants pleaded with the court to discharge and acquit all the defendants because the prosecution failed to prove their case beyond resealable doubt, counsel to the prosecution Falana believes justice must be served having provided substantial evidence.

Adedoyin and six others are standing trial on an 18-count charge bordering on conspiracy to murder, murder, and tampering with official records, among others.JAMB Result
