The House called Emefiele to explain the most recent policy of the central bank, which, among other things, bans cash withdrawals from Deposit Money Banks and other financial institutions.

The House was scheduled to question Emefiele about the policy on Thursday of last week, but he failed to appear before the MPs.

In a statement to the House, Edward Adamu, Deputy Governor of Corporate Services at the Central Bank of Nigeria, informed legislators that Emefiele accompanied President Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) on an official trip to the United States.NYSC portal

Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila has delayed Emefiele’s appearance to Tuesday, according to Ahmed Wase, the House’s Deputy Speaker, who read the letter to members at the start of Thursday’s plenary session.

However, the CBN emailed the House once more to inform them that Emefiele was still on duty.

Gbajabiamila stated that the two-week-long official mission would be of interest to the legislators.

The Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu, noted that if the CBN governor chooses not to appear before the House on Thursday, when the lawmakers are set to leave for the Christmas and New Year’s holiday, their resolution to suspend the policy will still stand.JAMB Result
