As reported by DAILY POST, Ani, a Professor of Agricultural Extension at the Federal University of Technology Owerri in Imo State, and a native of Onicha Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, was elected in preparation for the bye-election scheduled for February 4th, 2024. Mr. Akin Akin-Sehiinwa, the chairman of the APC electoral committee and returning officer, announced that Ani secured 281 out of the 285 votes cast in the primary. “Prof. Anthony Okorie Ani, having received the highest number of votes in the Ebonyi South senatorial Zone bye-election, is hereby declared the winner and returned as the APC senatorial candidate in Ebonyi State,” he stated.JAMB Portal
Stanley Okoro Emegha, the state chairman of the APC, assured the media of the primary’s fairness, credibility, and peaceful nature. He highlighted that Ani‘s nomination aimed to balance political power among the zone’s five local government areas.
