Edo gov: I’m nobody’s candidate, says Ighodalo

Asue Ighodalo, the former chairman of Nigeria Breweries Plc, has declared his intentions to run for the governorship of Edo State, positioning himself as a prime candidate to succeed the incumbent Governor Godwin Obaseki. In a statement released on Monday, Ighodalo highlighted his extensive background working in various capacities within the state’s political and economic landscape.

Ighodalo emphasized his involvement with both past and present administrations in Edo State, noting his work with former Governor Adams Oshiomhole and his continued collaboration with Governor Obaseki. He identified himself as a native of Ewohimi in Edo Central, underlining his deep roots in the state.JAMB Portal

Presenting himself as an independent candidate, Ighodalo expressed his readiness to leverage his experience from leading various companies to drive economic growth and development in Edo State. As the chairman of the Alaghodaro Summit, he voiced his commitment to harnessing different sectors of the state’s economy to alleviate poverty and improve the standard of living for the people.

Ighodalo pointed out the need for significant infrastructural development in Edo State, including better roads, pipe-borne water, hospitals, and schools. His decision to transition from the private sector to politics, he admits, was challenging, but he feels prepared for the demands and integrity required for the governorship role.
