Ex-President Obasanjo Receives Zambia’s Highest National Award

The former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo has received Zambia’s highest award, the Order of the Eagle.Information Guide Nigeria

ICIR reports that Obasanjo received the award from Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema at a ceremony in Lusaka, Zambia on Thursday.

Former Presidents of Liberia, Ellen Sirleaf Johnson of Liberia and Ernest Bai Koroma of Sierra Leone, were also presented with the Order of the Eagle at the colourful ceremony.

Speaking, President Hichilema said the three leaders have distinguished themselves in their own countries, on the African Continent and beyond, by their unrelenting efforts to establish and promote democracy and good governance, as a precursor to improving livelihoods of their people and other Africans.

This was disclosed by the Special Assistant on Media to the former Nigerian President Kehinde Akinyemi.

According to ICIR, Akinyemi said the honours were also contained in a government official gazette signed by the Acting Secretary of the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa.Jamb Result

Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Obasanjo said, “We take this honour as encouragement to do more. Whatever we have done for Africa and for humanity to make you honour us, we assure you we will do more.”
