Herbal medicine kills 4 HIV patients in Gombe

The Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS in Nigeria (NEPWHAN) in Gombe State has reported that four of its members have died, allegedly due to the use of herbal HIV treatment.informationguidenigeria

The program officer of the association, Mr. Muhammad Ibrahim, made this announcement in Gombe during an event commemorating World AIDS Day in 2023.

Ibrahim expressed concern about the increasing use of herbal therapy for HIV treatment in the state, especially among its members.

He emphasized the necessity for government and stakeholders to regulate and monitor the distribution of alternative HIV treatments in the state.JAMB Portal

He also pointed out that many HIV-positive patients, desperate for a cure, have turned to herbal remedies, resulting in the deaths of several individuals due to incorrect medication.
