1. Be Polite To Everyone

The first thing we are going to consider in order to gain friends in the higher institution, is to be polite to everyone. When I say higher institution, it could be the university, college of education or even the polytechnic.

When admitted into any of the higher institutions listed above, it is common to notice that every fresher would be asking questions like “where the faculty block is, where the administrative block is” and a host of other questions.

So here is the trick, at this point in time, many people who you might have never seen in your life, would be there to give you responses or even ask you questions and you should ask questions politely and answer politely.

When you do so, the people or person you interacted with, would be happy that you spoke in a polite manner and automatically there would be friendship between you and the person.

So in order to gain friends in the university, you need to be polite to everyone around you. The person must not be someone you know.

2. Be Friendly To Many People

Most of the time freshers usually segregate themselves from other students, simply because they don’t understand their lives, but this is not a good approach in knowing which friends you will move with.

In order to have friends in the higher institution, you should be as friendly to as many people as possible, from there you would be able to choose the click of friends you can move along with.

Being friendly to many people doesn’t mean you begin telling them your life history, it could just be displaying a smiling face when someone speaks to you, and it is a simple as that. This would attract people to become your friend and you can also make anyone your friend.

3. Find Out Where Good Friends Hang Out

If you are not the social type, you can actually make friends in the higher institution by observing the characters of every social circle in your class and you can also do so by finding out where potentially good friends hang out.

Many people would say “how would I know if these groups of people are good?” well you can know this by checking out their way of life towards activities in school.

4. Be Vocal

Have you ever noticed that, it is usually people who speak a lot that have the largest click of friends? Well it’s not magic, but it is a natural phenomenon to see that a talkative have more friend s that quiet people.

So you should learn to speak up even if you are not social, so that you can be able to find friends of class in the higher institution.

You could just break news that happened in the school and every one would be willing to listen to you, since the environment is quite new to everyone and everyone will be willing to listen to anyone that passes useful information.

5. Partake In Social Activities And Keep In Touch

Did you know that it is in social activities that people mostly make friends, this is because everyone is in merriment and when I say social activities or events I don’t strictly mean night parties or birthday parties, it could be during sports, or even during the freshers orientation meeting.

Another thing to note is to keep in touch with people you want to make as friends, this is because you cannot say you are someone’s friend when you don’t spend time with him or her or communicate by making calls, texting or sending real-time messages.

Those little social activities you partake in can build up solid friendships.
There is really a good opportunity to make friends when you partake in social activities in the higher institution.

6. Always Smile

Due to the fact that no one would always like to be in the presence of an angry fellow, it would be necessary for you to smile as often as possible if you really want to make friends in the higher institution.

Smiling is associated with love and friendship this is because you cannot be happy with someone in an angry mood.
So you have to make yourself friendly to others in order to make friends in the higher institution by smiling.

7. Spend More Time With People You Trust

You have to spend more time with people you trust, if you really want to show them how friendly you are. The time you spend with a person shows your level of relationship with that person.

Spending time with people is necessary in friendship, that is why you have to spend good time with your course mates even if it is during studies or any one that you trust in order for your friendship to grow.
