The Nigerian singer-songwriter Adedamola Adefolahan, better known by his stage as Fireboy DML, has discussed the inspiration behind his famous song Peru.
According to the vocalist, DMW artist Peruzzi, who frequently uses a hook in his songs, served as an inspiration for portions of the lyrics.Information Guide Nigeria

The YBNL Nation stated that he recorded the song because he was travelling to the US for the first time in a recent interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1.
He claimed that prior to that, he had a writer’s block, therefore recording Peru was an unplanned action.
