Design of HTC One A9

No need repeating that the HTC One A9 looks sleek like the iphone 6s. Am not in anyway trying to say that HTC did a copycat job on this piece.

But, it is the best possible description to let someone who is yet to see or hold this phone know what it looks and feels like. That is, only if the person had seen or held the iphone 6s too.

The HTC One A9 have beautifully curved edges, minimalist size which makes it very hand friendly. The back is made of flat aluminum that is neatly brushed and patterned.

The HTC One A9 has a physical body size of 7.3mm, weighs 143g and available in different vibrant colours.

The front of the phone is made of corning Gorilla Glass 3 which beautifully curves into the metallic unibody of the phone.

This houses the 4MP secondary camera and the notification light at the top. While the HTC logo is somewhere at the bottom corner of the screen with the lozenge home button placed a bit below it. Which also performs perfectly as the finger print scanner.

You will find the standby button and volume buttons are at the right side edge.

At the bottom you will find the microUSB port, the headphone jack and the machine-drilled speaker holes. This lets out loud and clear sounds.

Flip the phone over, and you will find the 13MP rear camera slightly protruding and and dual LED flash.

In all, despite looking like the iphone 6s, the HTC One A9 boasts of a sleek and stylish design like the M9. Though, the M9 is way better.

Display of HTC One A9

The HTC One A9 sport an edge to edge 5 inch AMOLED screen. With a resolution of 1080 by 1920 pixels. This might not be the best resolution in the market but it sure displays colours in a bright and vibrant manner. The black is deep and red is sharp. All thanks to the OLED technology.

The corning Gorilla Glass 3 ensures that this beautiful piece is always protected against Knocks and scratches.

There is also the dual mode colour profile that allows you to select between AMOLED colour display and sRGB standard display.

Processor And Operating System of  HTC One A9

The HTC One A9 runs Android OS v6.0 (Marshmallow) alongside the HTC sense 7. The Android v6.0 formed the core of the operating system. And unlike the M9, the sense had a little role to play in this device’s interface.

Internally, the device is powered by a octa core Qualcomm MSM8952 Snapdragon 617 processor. Clocked at quad 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A53. Supported by GPU Adreno 405.

All these is aside the 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory expandable up to 200GB via microSD card. There is also the variant with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory configuration.

With these well packed hood, you are guaranteed of fast operations, swift slide between screens, fluid-fast task switching, flashing transitions and animations.

Though, the HTC One A9 features a UI with stock like Android interface because of the huge effect of the Marshmallow. The effects of the sense 7 helped make the A9 a complete HTC device.

The phone displays a grid-like task switching menu bar and a stock-like notification tray. The themes are breathtaking, the animations are superb and the transitions are lightening.

With the HTC One A9, you can create and customize your own themes to portray your style and personality.

You can ask well customize the HTC blinkfeed to enable you locate the gallery, music news and your favourite news feeds easily. Any time, any day, the HTC UI remains the best for me and the selling point for the brand.

And of course, the finger print scanner which double task as the home button works wonderfully well. Maybe because of the new Marshmallow.

Camera Quality of HTC One A9

The HTC One A9 comes fitted with a decent rear camera of 13MP. With an aperture of f/2.0, dual LED flash and other features like auto-focus, BSI sensor, OIS, and 1080p video recording capability.

The camera resolution might not be huge like that of the M9, but it features optical image stabilization(OIS) Which guarantees blur-free images.

The front camera of 4MP with HTC UltraPixel, fixed focus, and aperture of ƒ/2.0 is pretty good and delivers crisp selfies as well.

Battery Life of HTC One A9

Like most HTC smartphones, the A9 lacks a good battery to support its amazing features. Maybe because of it’s slim physique.

The HTC One A9 is powered by a battery of 2150mAh capacity. This is rather too limited a battery to perform some power sapping functions of the phone.

However, the HTC one M9 supports Quickcharge that guarantees the user of full charge in 2 hours or less. All thanks to the Qualcomm’s QuickCharge 2.0.

But, you have to get a compatible charger because the phone doesn’t come with one. Wonder when HTC would stop this weird behavior.

Connectivity of HTC One A9

The HTC One A9 may not be the brand’s flagship phone, but on the connectivity front, the HTC one A9 offers you all you can get from a high-end smartphone. Bluetooth v4.1, NFC(for Google pay), Wi-Fi, 4G, GPS and FM radio.

My Candid Opinion of HTC One A9

HTC maybe touted by most Apple enthusiasts to have done a copycat job on this piece. But, that doesn’t in anyway change the fact that the phone is stylish and the performance is optimum.

It may not be as sleek as the Samsung Galaxy S6 nor optimal in performance as the LG G4. But, it sure is a good device.

Am still confused as whether to term it a high-end or a mid-end device. However, It’s a decent smartphone but way too costly for a phone with such specs.
