Khalifa Auwal Hashim, the prosecuting attorney, pleaded with the court to postpone the case as it awaits legal counsel from the state ministry of justice to determine the best course of action.
The state attorney also requested that the accused be sent back to a correctional prison in a court appeal. Due to this, Chief Magistrate Ciroma directed that Quanrong be detained at Kurmawa Correctional Center while he awaits legal counsel and postponed the case until October 13 to allow for more discussion.
In an earlier statement, the prosecuting attorney said that Quanrong committed the crime on September 16 at the Janbulo Quarters in Kano. He claimed that following a misunderstanding, he struck Buhari with a knife at around 9:30 the same night.
Sani was transported to the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in Kano, according to the police, where a doctor declared her dead.
In the meantime, yesterday, the House of Representatives ordered the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alkali Baba Usman, to ensure a thorough inquiry into the horrible murder of Buhari by her Chinese lover, Mr. Geng Quanrong.
On Friday, September 16, when she was at home in Janbulo, Dorayi Babba in Gwale Local Council of Kano State, the deceased, a National Youths Corps (NYSC) participant, was allegedly slain by her ex-lover.
The House requested the Chinese ambassador to Nigeria and the Chinese community in Kano State to express condolences to the deceased’s immediate family as well as the governments and citizens of Kano State and Nigeria. It also asked its Interior Committee to do the same.
Quanrong is accused of killing the deceased at around 9:30 p.m. with the deliberate purpose to do so, according to Rurum, who moved the motion.
