Labour Party and PDP Demand Cancellation of Imo State Governorship Election

Following the Imo State governorship election held on Saturday, both the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have called for its cancellation.

The demand was made amidst allegations of electoral malpractices and the subversion of democratic processes.

Tony Nwulu, the deputy governorship candidate of the LP, voiced these concerns during a press conference held on Saturday night. He accused security agents of colluding with certain individuals to undermine the will of the people during the election. Nwulu’s remarks suggest a grave concern about the integrity of the electoral process in the state.NYSC Portal

Asserting that the LP had won the election based on the actual votes cast, Nwulu expressed deep apprehension about the state of democracy in Imo State, describing it as being “under threat.” This statement underscores the tensions and uncertainties surrounding the election’s outcome.InformationGuideNigeria

Nwulu said, “There was no election in Imo State on Saturday. What happened was the diversion of the electoral materials to the homes of people and the LGA council headquarters. In all this, the police, Army and the DSS provided security to the actors.
