Lagos impounds 15 tankers for indiscriminate parking

The Lagos State Government, through its Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), has taken decisive action against illegal parking, resulting in the impoundment of 15 tankers.

These vehicles were found parked indiscriminately along the 2nd Rainbow and Mile 2 Bridge on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway. This enforcement operation was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to address traffic congestion and maintain order on Lagos roads.

The operation was conducted following the directives of Sola Giwa, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation. Adebayo Taofiq, the Public Relations Officer of LASTMA, provided details of the operation in a statement given to PUNCH Metro.

According to Peter Gbejemede, the Director of Operations at LASTMA, such enforcement actions will continue until the issue of illegal and careless parking, which contributes significantly to traffic gridlock in Lagos State, is fully addressed.

The statement highlighted LASTMA’s commitment to ensuring free flow of traffic and reducing the challenges faced by commuters in Lagos, especially on key routes like the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway.
