Lawmakers propose 32 additional federal varsities

The 10th National Assembly in Nigeria is currently considering 32 legislative measures aimed at establishing new universities, polytechnics, and other educational institutions.

This surge in proposals for new institutions comes amidst concerns from the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other educational experts, who warn against the proliferation of new institutions while existing ones suffer from inadequate funding.

Nigeria’s educational landscape currently comprises a substantial number of institutions. According to the National Universities Commission, there are 52 federal universities, alongside 63 public and 147 private universities.informationguidenigeria
