Man with jackknife didn’t attempt assassinating Peter Obi – Police

The Oyo State Police Command has identified as Lateef Wasiu the man who was captured with a double-sided jackknife on Wednesday during the Labour Party’s presidential campaign in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Adewale Osifeso, a spokesman for the police command, said in a statement released on Saturday that the suspect, who concealed the weapon within his suit, was apprehended by police at the demonstration site.

However, Osifeso disproved a widely circulated report that the suspect attempted to kill Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.Information Guide Nigeria

By bringing a weapon to the demonstration, he claimed, Wasiu violated existing rules, particularly the 2022 Electoral Act.

The suspect has been indicted in court, according to the police spokesperson.

When the guy was apprehended with the firearm at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Adamasingba, Ibadan, a viral video of the incident had previously gone viral online. People said the incident was an attempt to assassinate the Labour Party presidential candidate, eliciting a variety of responses.JAMB Result
