Mauricio Pochettino makes Kylian Mbappe plea amid Real Madrid and Chelsea transfer links

Mauricio Pochettino has labelled Real Madrid and Chelsea target Kylian Mbappe as ‘intelligent’ and has pleaded for the French star to stay in Paris and become a legend beyond the summer. The 23-year old French international has a big decision to make regarding what’s next in his career and just like Pochettino, could be spending his last months in France before new ventures.Information Guide Nigeria

The Paris-Saint Germain star was touted to have completed a mega-money move to Madrid last summer but PSG’s owners intervened at the time in the hope that they could tie him down and convince him to put pen to paper on a new deal.

However, this plan hasn’t happened and just like Pochettino, who has been labelled as one of the favourites for the vacant managerial position at Manchester United, both could be heading through the exit doors of the Parc des Princes.

Before all is revealed as to where the aforementioned duo’s futures lie, they do have an important Round of 16 tie against Los Blancos coming up as the former Spurs manager looks to bow out of France with a historic Champions League trophy achievement – for himself and the club that have had bucket-loads of investment over the years from Qatar.

Ahead of the tie, Pochettino sat down with the media to discuss the future of Mbappe, with it likely that the opposition for this tie could very much likely be his future destination.

“I don’t think. I am in love with the original PSG shirt with its colours. When I signed for Paris Saint Germain in 2001… one of the things I always looked at was the jerseys of the teams that were interested. One of the teams was this one, I loved the design, the shield… it’s one of the most beautiful colours and designs that there are as football shirts,” he said when asked about whether or not seeing Mbappe wearing different colours next season would hurt him.

Pochettino added: I don’t think such an important decision will go through a match or a tie. He is an intelligent, mature boy, with a tremendous capacity for analysis and always knowing what he wants for his career and his future. With people around him advising him in the best way… I don’t think that’s the case. I see him calm, focused on doing the best possible for PSG as he said. You have to respect him and he will make a decision after the tie is over.

“Hopefully he spends his entire career at PSG, which would be a very good sign for us and the club. For me, he is a player who is in the top-5 of the world without any doubt.”
