N’Golo Kante’s energy outclassed Liverpool Mid-field and brought a different dimension to the Chelsea’s game

Chelsea vs. Liverpool is the most-watched English football match in the twenty-first century. In the last 23 years, these two teams have met 71 times, including European Cup battles, domestic Cup finals, and historic clashes.

But, as it was, this felt like a game between the eighth and eleventh. Information Guide Nigeria

It was a game full of mistakes, and it was N’Golo Kante’s class, making his first start since August, that truly stood out in what was otherwise a forgettable game of football.

At Stamford Bridge, it was a night of transition. Liverpool scored six goals in their weekend thrash at the Etihad. Chelsea’s manager has been replaced by Bruno Salter following Graham Potter’s dismissal. The most noticeable change, however, was the return of Kante, who made only his fourth appearance of the season. NYSC Portal

Kante, the captain on the night, led from the start, adding a new dimension to Chelsea’s play. His energy is unrivaled. His presence was unmistakable. His influence was undeniable. From tracking back and halting any sign of a Liverpool counter to driving forward and being at the heart of Chelsea’s transitions, he has done it all.

Despite Liverpool’s woes, no team has had more ‘fast breaks’ this season than them, but Kante was up to the task. The Frenchman was one step ahead of Liverpool’s midfield trio, casually nodding the ball past Curtis Jones with his head and running onto his own pass at one point. It was borderline sarcastic. He was simply too hot for me.

That phase of play resulted in Reece James volleying in, only to have it ruled out because Enzo Fernandez was offside in the build-up.

But Kante’s night was just getting started, as he won possession eight times in the first half, more than anyone else.

All in between a break in which he, along with Wesley Fofana and Kalidou Koulibaly, his Muslim teammates at Chelsea, took advantage of the Premier League’s guidance to allow for a natural pause, allowing players to break their fasts in Ramadan.

They had already broken their fasts with the local sunset shortly before 8 p.m., but this was an opportunity to get some much-needed fuel down them. Not that Kante needed any. He was back on his feet after a sip of water and a squeeze of an energy gel sachet.

With his work rate, you’d never guess the 32-year-old was fasting if it weren’t for the break.
