Nigeria must focus on planned city development – LFZ

The focus needs to be on planned metropolitan improvements, according to Mr. Dinesh Rathi, Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos Free Zone, if the nation is to realize its economic potential.Information Guide Nigeria

He asserted that the city’s development will be accelerated and that it will improve Nigerians’ economic well-being.

According to a statement, Rathi made this statement recently in Lagos during a panel discussion at the West Africa Property Investment Summit with the topic of “Industrial infrastructure, special economic zones, and master-planned complexes.

Nevertheless, he expressed confidence that the union of the Lagos Free Zone and Lekki Port will act as a significant catalyst for transforming Nigeria’s economy.

He said, “Lagos Free Zone is a classic example of a planned development that can drive growth given its integration with Lekki Port which is well-equipped with world-class infrastructure to enhance the ease of doing business”NYSC portal

He continued by saying that the combination of the LFZ and the start of operations at Lekki Port will still be a game-changer for the nation’s economy.

According to Rathi, the decision to build enabling infrastructure in the zone is intended to make investing easier for both domestic and foreign businesses.JAMB portal

It will also help to increase Nigeria’s appeal for foreign direct investments and economic development, he continued.

“What we have also done apart from creating Lekki Port as a gateway and transhipment hub is the creation of a free zone that is well equipped with world-class infrastructure- warehouses, standard factories, logistics park, etc. All of these are to make the operator come in and plug and play. Operators or investors can thrive in the zone because it provides them with the resilience since they can do it in the most efficient and optimised manner”, he said.

He also emphasized that the Zone has a power plant, which is a major draw for investors and may soon put an end to the problem of affordable, reliable power that has prevented Nigeria from becoming a manufacturing centre.

He revealed that Lagos Free Zone will attract significant investment following the implementation of the Africa Free Continental Trade Agreement, which would ease trade into Nigeria.JAMB Result
