Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited and its Agbami Partner has thrown in some coins to support the race in pursue of education in Nigeria by undergraduates in various approved institutions across the country.

The scholarship programme which is known as “Agbami Medical & Engineering Scholarship” is open to FULL TIME undergraduates in their 100 and 200 Levels.

3. Shell University Scholarships for Undergraduate Nigerian Students

Issuer: Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited

Eligibility:

Eligible Applicants must:

  1. Be citizens of Nigeria, currently enrolled in an accredited and approved university in Nigeria.
  2. Have gained admission during the 2015/2016 academic session, and pursuing a first degree programme.
  3. Have a minimum of seven O/Levels credits, including Mathematics and English.
  4. Be enrolled full‐time, in a university in Nigeria at the undergraduate level with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 at the time of application (attach transcripts or official records).

The Scholarship comes in two categories;

  • The National Merit Award (NM) and
  • The Areas of Operation Merit Award (OM).

How to Apply

  1. All applicants should have their personal valid email accounts (for consistent communication).
  2. Candidates who meet the above entry qualifications should apply online at www.shellnigeria.com and to provide the required personal and educational details, and load scanned copies of the following:
  • A recent passport-sized photograph of the applicant (i.e. jpeg format, not more than 200kilobytes);
  • University or JAMB (UTME or D/E) Admission Letter;
  • Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) Scores;
  • ‘O’ Level Result(s); and ‘A’ Level /OND /NCE Result(s) as applicable; and
  • Letter of Identification from State (showing Local Government) of Origin.
  • Scanned copies of letters of identification, (which must be duly stamped and signed) by:
  • The Paramount Ruler of the Community; and
  • The Chairman of the Community Development or Executive Council (CDC or CEC) is also required of applicants for the Operational Area Awards (OM). Eligibility

  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education in Nigeria must be full time undergraduates in 200 level/2nd year.
  • Applicants from public Universities and Colleges of Education must have a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) score of 3.5 or its equivalent (2:1)
  • Applicants from public Polytechnics must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) programme and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma programme (HND).
  • Direct entry level students must have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND programme and must have secured admission into 200 level/2nd year in a public University
  • Current Beneficiaries of the MTN Foundation Science & Technology Scholarship award are not eligible to apply
  • The MTN Foundation reserves the right to cancel or suspend a scholarship award if it is discovered that an applicant /awardee provided false information.

Requirements/Criteria:

To qualify for consideration, the applicant MUST:

  1. Be a Registered FULL TIME undergraduate in a recognized Nigerian University
  2. Be a certified 100 or 200 level student at the time of application
  3. Show proof of SSCE or Equivalent Certificate.
  4. Show proof of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) score.
  5. Show proof of letter from the University and Matriculation Number
  6. Show proof of A-level or Equivalent Certificate (for direct entry students)

Issuer: Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN)

Requirements/ Criteria:

  1. Awards will be made to qualified and suitable students who are currently admitted in Nigerian Universities irrespective of state of origin including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
  2. Candidates must be holders of the SSCE or its equivalent with at least six subjects passed at a sitting
  3. Applicants must be registered full-time undergraduates in their 1st or 2nd year of study in any accredited Nigerian University

10. PTDF Scholarships for Undergraduate, Masters and PhD Nigerian Students

Issuer: Petroleum Technology Development Fund

Worth: ₦150, 000 Plus One Laptop

Country to Study in: Nigeria, Europe (UK, Germany, France), Brazil, USA

Requirements/ Criteria:

Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach to their online application forms:

  1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result
  2. NYSC discharge certificate
  3. WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO Results
  4. Two Recent Passport Photographs
  5. Local Government Identification Letter
  6. Master’s Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only)
  7. Admission Letter (PhD Applicants)

A). Undergraduate (Nigeria Only)

  • Possession of 5 credits in WAEC/SSCE/NECO including English Language and Mathematics
  • Must have concluded the 1st year of their study in any of the PTDF upgraded Federal Universities listed below.
  • Must have scored a minimum CGPA of 3.0 on scale of 5 or 4.5 on a scale of 7 in their 1st Year.
  • Must scan and attach a copy of their admission letter
  • Students admitted into the University through Direct Entry i.e. 200 level must have either of the following:
  • Minimum of Upper Credit at the Diploma level
  • Minimum of 10 points in interim Joint Matriculation Board (I.J.M.B) examination.
  • Minimum of 8 points at the Advanced Level General Certificate of Education (G.C.E).

B). MSc (OSS And LSS)

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate.
  • Applicants must be computer literate.
  • Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO.
  • Applicants must not be above 30 years of age.

Applicants for OSS must be in possession of the following:

  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (USA).
  • R.E (Graduate Record Examination) (USA).
  • GMAT – for Management related courses (USA).
  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) (UK).

C). PhD (OSS And LSS)

  • A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) in an Oil and Gas related field OR a 2.2 with oil and gas industry experience;
  • National Youth Service (NYSC) certificate;
  • Applicants must be computer literate;
  • Possession of O/level with Credit in English Language; (At least C6 in WAEC/SSCE or C4 and above in NECO); and
  • Employment in the academics in reputable Nigerian Institution, teaching oil and gas related disciplines;
  • A minimum of 2.2 in their first degree and a minimum of merit as a second degree certificate in an oil and gas related discipline;
  • Submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry (of not more than 5 pages) to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology relevance to the industry and mode of data collection;
  • Possess a valid admission letter; and
  • Must not be over 40 years of age

Application Forms can be accessed online at the APPLICATION WEBSITE using an ATM (Interswitch, Master & Visa) card or through purchase of a scratch card from designated main branches of First Bank of Nigeria Plc in all the 36 States and FCT, upon payment of a NON-REFUNDABLE sum of N1,000 (One Thousand Naira Only). Instructions on how to access the form online is clearly stated on the backside of the cards.

11. Gani Fawehinmi Scholarships Award for Nigerian Students

Issuer: Gani Fawehinmi Scholarship Board

Requirements/Criteria:

Each applicant shall submit an application letter, not more than two pages. The letter must include the name of the candidate, course and year of study, state of origin and why the candidate believes that he or she should be given the award,

The application letter must be accompanied by:

  1. A photocopy of the candidates current identity card
  2. A letter from the candidates current head of department, including correct information on the candidates CGPA for the last academic session
  3. A letter from the registrar certifying that the candidate is a student of the institution
  4. A copy of the candidates registration form for the current semester and
  5. Two current passport photographs

Students who have once won the scholarship are not eligible

12. MUSTE Undergraduate Scholarships for Nigerian Students

Issuer: Mankind United to Support Total Education (MUSTE)

Worth: unspecified

Requirements/criteria:

Applicant must:

  1. Have their Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination result or the equivalent
  2. Have a current admission letter into a recognized higher level institution
  3. Undergraduate applicant must have passed JAMB and Post-JAMB examinations
  4. Undergraduates already in school must attach a recent photocopy of their school I.D
  5. Higher degree applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree or the equivalent, and have at least two years of recent full time professional experience, acquired after a university degree.
