Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State and vice presidential candidate for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), claims that northerners in states where Hausa and Fulani are the majority were hesitant to support him because he is a Kanuri.Information Guide Nigeria
Peoples Gazette reports that Shettima made the comments while meeting with the emir of Daura in Katsina State.

“I’m not Hausa, but I am Fulani-blood-related. I’m a Kanuri also, and I have benefited the north than the other.”

Shettima also accused the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, of neglecting the region in his eight years as Vice President, adding that he can not enjoy their support despite being considered as their son.NYSC portal
He challenged the audience to mention eight successful people that the former Vice President had mentored throughout his political career.
“Ours is ours, but our man, who does not benefit us, cannot be considered as our own,” Shettima said in Hausa.JAMB Result
