PDP in talks with 11 parties for alliance

The Peoples Democratic Party has announced that talks are ongoing with 11 other parties interested in forming a working coalition ahead of the February 25 presidential election.

This comes just 24 hours after similar discussions between the ruling All Progressives Congress and smaller parties.Information Guide Nigeria

In a phone interview with our correspondent on Wednesday, the party’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Ibrahim Abdullahi, claimed the party has begun negotiations with nearly a dozen parties and welcomes more to join.NYSC portal

He said, “There are a good number of them, but it will not be wise to publicly list them out. At the last time I checked, we were in talks with over 11 of them.JAMB portal

“They approached us to express their willingness to partner with us towards ensuring credible elections in 2023. That is the way they put it, but you and I know what that means.

“These are parties with candidates who are not strong enough. I can confirm to you that there is a working arrangement, and we want to see more of such parties or groups. Together, we will salvage this country.

“They know the strength of the PDP and the pedigree of its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”

According to the PUNCH, the Peoples Coalition Party and the All Grassroots Alliance both endorsed Atiku when he originally stood for President on the platform of the PDP in the 2019 election.JAMB Result
