Premier League confirm AFC Bournemouth v Luton Town to be replayed

According to the report from bournemouthecho, the Premier League has confirmed that Cherries’ abandoned match with Luton Town will be replayed in full. Cherries and Luton were drawing 1-1 after 59 minutes of play at Vitality Stadium on Saturday, December 16 when Hatters captain Tom Lockyer collapsed off the ball in his own half.InformationGuideNigeria

The Welsh international quickly received medical attention for what was later revealed to be a cardiac arrest. Play was paused for Lockyer to be attended to, before the decision to abandon the game was made after the centre-back was stretched off the pitch.InformationGuideNigeria

The latest update from Luton Town regarding Lockyer was on Monday, when it was stated the former Charlton Athletic defender was recovering in hospital and undergoing further tests. Whilst the decision to restart the match has been made, a new date for the fixture has yet to have been confirmed.NYSC Portal

In a statement on their website, the Premier League said: “Following the on-field medical emergency involving Luton Town FC player Tom Lockyer, the Premier League Board has decided last Saturday’s AFC Bournemouth v Luton Town FC fixture will be replayed in full.NYSC Portal
