Rwandan president sides with China in tussle against USA for opportunity to win Africa’s business

Paul Kagame, the president of Rwanda, has joined China in its battle against the West for Africa’s business.

During the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit, which was held between the 13th and 15th of December, several economic concerns were discussed, including the US’s potential future economic accords with Africa.

This would mean expanding America’s sphere of influence in Africa, which implies reducing the leverage that other markets, such as China, have been able to establish over the years.Information Guide Nigeria

Even though the administration of President Joe Biden disclosed that the conference had nothing to do with China’s economic influence in Africa, the topic was nevertheless avoided.

Africa has the right to pursue financial ties with whoever she wishes, according to the Rwandan president. He emphasized Africa’s desire to develop its ties with China.NYSC portal

In recent years, China’s economic engagement with some African states has eclipsed U.S. trade and economic cooperation with Africa.

“I don’t think we need to be bullied into making or taking choices – choosing between the US or China; it’s really none of our business. I think we need to have both and others as partners as long as they respect us and understand that we have something to contribute,” the president said.JAMB portal

In addition, he demanded that the west be more sensitive to Africa’s developmental demands and cease moaning about China’s impact on the continent.

One of the West’s concerns against China’s economic collaboration with African countries is that China is allegedly building up a debt trap for the motherland.

However, while China’s debt in Africa continues to climb, African countries owe three times as much to Western institutions as China.

President Kagame also addressed the debt issue, emphasizing that, in his view, Africa is also to blame for China’s expanding debt in Africa due to its excessive borrowing. Africa must reduce its borrowing from China if the debt problem is to be resolved, he said.JAMB Result
