El-Rufai recently downplayed Obi’s chances of winning the presidency in an interview.
“Peter Obi is and always will be a Nollywood actor. Because they have the spread and the footprint, the APC and PDP are the only candidates in this election. Bigotry based on race or religion will not get you anywhere, and that is what the Labour Party campaign is all about, he had previously stated.
On a Sunday Arise TV program, Obi said the governor’s remark demonstrates that he is aware of his potential to change the entertainment sector if elected.

He urged industry participants to back his bid for the presidency.
“I thank El-Rufai for what he said, at least he gave me some percentages; I’ll work hard to improve on that. The entertainment industry is one of the engines that will develop us as a nation, I’ll focus on that and Nollywood,” he said.
“And now that I’m an acclaimed actor, I’m calling on all those in the entertainment industry, including Nollywood, to support me.”
