Tesla Reveals Unlimited Overnight Charging Plan And Wireless Car Charger

Tesla wants to encourage its customers to embrace renewable energy, and one of the ways it plans to do so is by offering a highly affordable unlimited home charging plan… though it will only be offered to certain Tesla owners for the foreseeable future.Information Guide Nigeria

The EV manufacturer disclosed the forthcoming subscription option during the Tesla Investor Day 2023 event on March 1, unveiling it among several other crucial information about the company’s future as well as its ambitious “master plan” to electrify the worldwide market.

Among the highlights of the presentation was the announcement that the next Gigafactory will be constructed near Monterrey, Mexico, and will manufacture future Tesla EVs based on the newly-detailed next-generation automobile platform. According to information provided by Musk and other Tesla employees who participated in the presentation, the next-generation platform will bring significant changes to the Tesla lineup, including a smaller, lighter, more efficient, and more cost-effective architecture, paving the way for Tesla EV models that are less expensive than the current-generation lineup.

As a brief aside during the lengthy presentation, Tesla announced that beginning in or around July 2023, its customers in Texas will have access to an optional $30 per month unlimited home charging plan. The proposal will include unrestricted overnight charging at home, with the automaker adding that the state “has a tonne of land” and “the wind blows at night.” By providing this affordable unlimited plan, Tesla intends to encourage its customers to charge their EVs at home throughout the night using renewable energy, thereby contributing to the social transition towards greener alternatives.NYSC Portal

Tesla made it clear that this is part of a larger plan to encourage Tesla ownership and the usage of green energy in general, but it remains to be seen if it will ever reach your market. In this scenario, the corporation is able to offer the deal because windmills in the state generate a large supply of inexpensive electricity. The concept of paying users to shift resource consumption to more optimal periods is not new, of course; Elon Musk’s Starlink satellite internet service, for instance, will soon introduce a daytime data restriction but permit unrestricted downloading at night.

They claim that if you blink, you’ll miss it. Simultaneously with the overnight charging plan announcement, Tesla displayed an image of a Tesla parked in a residential garage. If you give it a second look, you’ll notice the sleek, gleaming wall-mounted charger; if you look again, you may even detect what appears to be a wireless charging pad beneath the electric vehicle. The image was provided with the text “Can’t forget to do cool sh*t,” to indicate that it is a concept image depicting one of the interesting things that Tesla owners may have access to in the future.JAMB Result

The concept behind wireless charging is that rather than having to exit your vehicle, fetch the charger, and plug it in, you can simply pull your electric vehicle (EV) into the garage as you normally would and go about your business. Because the charging mat is positioned beneath the vehicle, wireless charging will begin automatically when the vehicle is parked on it. This, of course, would be a considerably less disturbing alternative to a different idea Tesla explored: a robot charger that moves autonomously in a serpentine manner to join itself with the vehicle, prompting the idea of parasitic infestation in the more primal regions of the human psyche.
