CHRISTIAN RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS IN IKEJA

REEDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD (RCCG)

The church was founded by Reverend Josiah Olufemi Akindayomi in 1952. After being led by the Holy Spirit, Reverend Josiah chose the present leader of the church, Enoch Adebayo. Adeboye was formally made the leader of the church when he was ordained a pastor in 1975.

The church frowns at people encouraging debts, fighting or creating problems against the church and encourages abstaining from all evil and giving respect to parents and authorities.

The church which has a lot of branches spread round the world, has its  headquarters in Nigeria in Ebute-Metta Lagos and it is popularly known for their once a month Holy Ghost service attended by millions of people from within and outside the country that takes place at the Redemption Camp on the outskirts of Lagos in Ogun State.

DAYSTAR CHRISTIAN CENTER

The church was founded by Reverend Sam Adeyemi who started the church after he got a revelation from God.

The church some believe is a church geared towards the youth with the hope of building a better society. The church is growing rapidly and is committed to raising row models for the society.

Daystar as a church has grown over the years going through a lot of changes to achieve a more efficient church ministry to have a better and greater impact on the society.

To achieve this purpose the church has done some restructuring with the hope of achieving its purpose of evangelism and mission, membership, maturity and worship.

WINNERS CHAPEL

Winners chapel also known as Living Faith Church Worldwide is a very large church with a lot of members. The Church was founded by Bishop David Oyedepo and has grown to have many branches not only in Nigeria but also in thirty four other countries.

The church came into existence after Oyedepo received a message from God in 1981. Two years later, the church was set up and started with four members.

The headquarters of the Winners Chapel also known as Faith Tabernacle is in Otta, Ogun State within the church complex called Canaan land.

The building of the church which took about 12 months to complete was considered as the largest church in the world between the years of 1999-2008.

The church has gone into the education sector and owns an institution called Covenant University which is one of the privately owned universities in Nigeria.

Every year, usually in the first week of December, the church holds an event called Shiloh which is attended by millions of people. The event is done to mark the end of the church year and to bring in the visitation of God on his people.

MOUNTAIN OF FIRE AND MIRACLE MINISTERIES (MFM)

The church was founded by Dr. Daniel Kolawole Olukoya. MFM is totally a gospel ministry which is committed in bringing back apostolic signs and show how powerful God is to everyone around.

The church sees itself as a do it yourself gospel ministry and aggressive prayer is considered as a way of improving a person spiritually and guarding against falling to the sins of the flesh.

The ministry was started when Dr Olukoya who was working at the Nigerian Institute of Medical research held prayer meetings in his home. The voice of God started asking for more meetings to be held which led to more people attending meaning they needed a bigger and larger place to continue the meetings.

This led to the church getting a place which is now their international headquarters at Yaba in 1994. Despite the larger space, the church still found it hard to accommodate the amount of people coming for its services.

This lead to the decision of creating branches across the country and world which made MFM one of the fastest growing churches of its generation. The church has branches internationally in United States of America, London, Canada, Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.

ISLAMIC ORGANIZATIONS IN LAGOS

NASRUL-LAHI-FATHI (NASFAT)

The Islamic group was set up as a forum where Muslim faithfuls can come together and share their thoughts, opinions and views on issues with learned Islamic scholars to enable them know and learn more about the religion of Islam.

The group usually holds its meetings on Sundays and the idea of holding the meeting on this day was brought about to engage Muslims who were mostly free on such days.

The innovation saw a few Muslims respond to the call, to further boost the organization, letters of invitation were sent out to some selected Muslims who responded to the call positively which led to the organization being formed.

The organization had its inaugural prayer in 1995 at the home of its founding member Alhaji Abdul-Lateef Wale Olasupo.

The Organization which started with twenty members has through the hard work of its mission board, council of elders, executive members and with the support of its dedicated members has grown to have thousands of Muslim faithfuls from various works of life spread across numerous towns and cities in Nigeria and beyond.

ANSAR-UD-DEEN SOCIETY NIGERIA

The Ansar-ud-deen society Nigeria was formerly incorporated in 1927 after it had been formed in Lagos in 1923. Ansar-ud-deen society is a Muslim religious organization that was formed to promote social and moral development of the Muslim community in Lagos as well as to promote educational development of Muslims.

It is a religious organization that looks to promotes building of morals in people, religious knowledge and practice. It is also a non-profit organization that renders services to people without discriminating against people on the basis of religion, gender or ethnic group.

In their aim to promote education development, they have over the years maintained a great relationship with religious and traditional leaders and political authorities which has seen them grow to be one of the major contributors to the educational sector.
