Traditional Rulers pays congratulatory visit to Governor Wike after his re-election

Monday, April 15, 2019 – Rivers – The Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amayanabo of Opobo, King Douglas Dandeson Jaja, led Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers on a congratulatory visit to  the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike today Monday, at the Government House, Port Harcourt.

Receiving the royal fathers, Governor Wike reiterated his administration’s resolved to tackle cult-related killings in some parts of the state, adding that his administration will take the fight to cultists. “We will not allow these cultists who want to paint the state black continue to cause mayhem. “We will take the fight to them. Enough is enough. These people cannot continue to kill our people “. Governor Wike maintained.

He, however, revealed how he met with the State Security Council on Sunday Night, adding that, modalities have been worked out on how the state is intending to rid the state of cult-related killings.

The Governor urged the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers to support the State Government in its fight against cultism, stressing that, prompt information will be of utmost important and useful in the course of tracking down the criminal elements parading around the state. He announced his avowed commitment to jealously guard the interest of State as well as ensuring that, River state under his watch developed.

 “I am a total, unrepentant Rivers Man. I will continue to jealously Guard the interest of the state”, the Governor said. The state Executive appreciated the Traditional Rulers for the solidarity visit. The Governor expressed regret that, some of the royal fathers were involved in party politics. He strongly advised the traditional rulers to stay off political terrain.

Giving reasons why they were on a congratulatory visit to the Governor,  the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers and Amayanabo of Opobo,  King Douglas Dandeson Jaja said that, they were in the Government House in order to congratulate Governor Wike for a landslide and well-deserved victory.

King Jaja thanked Governor Wike for his magnanimity in extending the olive branch of peace to all of his opponents, even as he urged the opponents in the state to accept governor Wike’s offer. The Chairman of the River State Council of Traditional Rulers lauded Rivers women for their wonderful role which they played through defending their votes across the state.

He lauded them for standing firm in making sure that, they resist the invasion of Collation Centres by the Nigerian Army, and prayed God’s protection over the Governor, asking God to always grant Governor Wike the capacity to lead River state with the fear of God and in the right direction.
