When new companies are established, especially those that deal in consumer goods, edible items, or products that are simply bought and used, and not put into the production of other goods and services; a strategy has to be put in place in order to ensure that members of the public are not only made aware of the product(s), but are also enticed into buying them.
There are usually two angles when it comes to this. The first angle is getting customers; the second angle is keeping customers. In this article, we are going to discuss on the best content marketing tips to help you gain new customers and keep your existing customers.

For new websites, content marketing is all about getting your website out there and getting people familiar with the name such that whenever they Google search and your website pops up, they will choose to first visit your website before they try others. Tip 1: YOUR NAME, YOUR BRAND
Many new website owners are basically more bothered about their content that they usually forget that their name speaks volumes.
I have seen a lot of articles online that talk about content marketing and all of them skip this very fundamental fact. They all jump into giving over a hundred tips on how to market your content online.
Think about all the popular sites that you know. Except those ones that gained popularity because of a world changing event that they were involved in, the rest (which is over 80%, by the way) all have user-friendly and relatable names.
Unless you already have a product in real life, and it becomes necessary to use that same name for your website, it is imperative that you use the most relatable names that you can think of.
If you are starting a blog, then you might be tempted to use your name like Linda Ikeji did; or some other popular blogs in the country (if you are Nigerian).
However, it is essential that when you are creating a website, try as much as possible to use a name that resonates your product. If you are an information providing website, then maybe the word “info” should be in your name.
If you deal with health, then a word that is associated with health should be in your website name. Also, do not make the name too long. All these help people remember your site, and know what your site is principally about.

“Industry” here refers to your products. What do you offer? Is it news, reviews, how to… information? Are you into celebrities or politics or trends?
This helps you in deciding how best you should market your content. Some web or blog industries require you to make many posts a day, while others require just a few posts daily.
News, celebrities, politics, etc: all require many posts daily because their contents are usually short… as compared to websites that provide reviews.

If you discover that Face book gets you about 80% of your website traffic, and twitter gets you the remaining 20, then maybe you should try limiting the share buttons to just those two.

If you reply tweets and comments, then your regular readers who have been communicating with you on social media would not mind dropping comments on your site also.

Okay, I must confess, I have not really seen many Nigerian websites that use this, however, when you check out many foreign websites you will notice that after seeing the first tiny bit of content, you have to click on “next” to see the other bits.
This ensures that you stay on the websites and load the site couple of times before you leave. Also, this helps their advert placement, as they can advertise a new product on different pages, in the same content.
Tip 13: EXCLUSIVES
Weekly or monthly exclusive content written by your best writer(s) is something that would make your readers keep track of time, so that they can read your next exclusive. Also remember to put these exclusives under a special category so that whenever a reader reads one of them and is impressed, he can get easy access to the rest.
Tip 14: RESPOND TO ANOTHER WEBSITES’ POST
When another website makes a post about a topic that generates a lot of traffic, do not be afraid of making your own post in response to such.
