Recall that the Ooni, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has become a topic of conversation due to his string of marriages, particularly as he is slated to marry his sixth wife, Princess Temitope Adesegun, today, October 24.
In September 2022, the Ooni of Ife welcomed Mariam Anako, a queen from Ebira, to his castle in Ile Ife, nine months after Prophetess Seyi Naomi stated on Instagram her intention to divorce him. After marrying Mariam, he has married six more women in the span of three weeks.
In September, the monarch wed Mariam Anako and Dr. Elizabeth Akinmudo.
He wed Queen Tobi Phillips, Queen Ashley, and Queen Ronke Ademiluyi in October.
He would marry Princess Temitope Adesegun as his sixth wife.
In celebration of his 48th birthday and seventh coronation anniversary, the Ooni has now explained why he wed Mariam Anako and the others.

The Ooni indicated that he attempted to make modifications but was unable. The monarch may have been referring to his decision to have only one queen and concubines when he declared of Ile Ife’s traditional legacy, “This institution is bigger than me, beyond me.”
The population of this palace exceeds 800 and is close to one thousand. Some residents of this palace have lived here for more than 60 years, while others have been here for more than 80 years. Some residents of this palace are above 100 years of age.
If I had my way, I tried to challenge it but it blew in my face but thank God I’m still alive. It’s an institution that is rich in heritage, culture, and tradition.”

The physician identified as Bella Nifemi sent a report to the queen.
