You Lie, I Supported Your VP Race In 2015 – Tinubu To Osinbajo

A presidential aspirant and National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has reacted to the statement credited to Vice President Osinbajo, that he did not support him to become the running mate of President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015. THE WILLS reports.

Recall that Osinbajo had said that Tinubu opposed his VP ambition ahead of the 2015 election, because he wanted the post for himself, but he succeeded through the help of two former governors of Osun State, Chief Bisi Akande and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

But, Tinubu while meeting with some delegates of the party at the Presidential Lodge in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, on Thursday, to seek their support and votes in order to clinch the APC presidential ticket, said Osinbajo lied. Information Guide Nigeria

He explained that he declined the post of VP and was later asked to bring three names, out of which he chose Osinbajo to become the running mate of Buhari in the build-up to the 2015 elections.

The former governor of Lagos State, mentioned Yemi Kandoso, Wale Edun, as two alternative names he would have provided, but instead, he decided to pick the VP’s name, because he did not want the party to fail.

He opined that he and Osinbajo are not enemies, despite aspiring for the presidential position, insisting that power does not belong to the North alone and it should come to the Yorubas in 2023. jamb results

“Then, I said I asked, if it is Christian, I have a person, because this party must not break and we must not fail, that was how I picked your son (Osinbajo), they initially asked me to bring three names, I produced, Yemi Kandoso, Wale Edun and Yemi Osinbajo, but I decided to bring one because if I bring three, they may add to one to the three names, and pick the fourth one.”

“And I said, I will give you one because I am the one who wants to surrender my right. Buhari came to Lagos himself and said he agreed that I should bring one name and I put down the name of Yemi Osinbajo, that is the truth. So that may not go wrong, the Yoruba nation may go up. Up till now we are not enemies, I just said it is time, it’s now 25 years that I have been serving you, bring it to me, it is my turn.”

“It is time to take the presidency, this power does not belong to the North alone only. If not for me, Buhari cannot be president, he ran the first time, he failed, he ran the second time, he failed, he ran the third time, he failed, he even cried on the TV that he won’t run again, and I went to meet him in Katsina that he will run, and that he will be president, but this time it is the turn of Yoruba and the person is me.”
