Many youth empowerment programs exist in Nigeria. Some of them are government owned and some are private owned. The aim of these youth empowerment programs are to empower and develop the Nigeria youth.

1) Npower

The Federal Government introduced this program to reduce youth unemployment in Nigeria. This program is engaged in the massive deployment of 500000 trained graduates.

They are engaged in the development skills among the youths. Each of those who are participating will learn and master skills that will enable him to create work.

2) Youth Empowerment and Development Initiative (YEDI)

This youth empowerment programme was established in 2011. The aim of this is to inspire youths of the Nigerian society in such a way as to reduce the rates of HIV and stigma in the lives of youths and young ones.

There is expansion of this program and they are creating more opportunities for youths and target and they target the challenges they are facing.

3) African Youth Empowerment Nigeria (AYEN)

7) Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Program (SURE-P)

This program otherwise known as SURE-P is a scheme that is formed by the Federal Government of Nigeria during the time of Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as President of Nigeria.

The essence is to reinvest the Federal Government savings from the removal of fuel subsidy on certain infra structural projects and social safety net programs including direct impact on the citizens of Nigeria. This is one of the pivots of the Transformation Agenda of the Nigerian Federal Government.

8) Youth Initiative for Sustainable Agriculture in Nigeria (YISA)

The essence of this program is to correct, encourage, educate, inspire, train and support young people to take up agriculture as an enterprise and not just a development project.

It is made up of all sets of youths both graduates and non graduates of agricultural discipline. Youths interested in agriculture can join the program.

9) Graduate Internship Scheme (GIS)

The GIS aims at creating an opportunity for 5000 eligible youth graduates to be mobilised as interns in effective and functional private/public sector firms in other to promote building of the manpower requirement so as to drive the Nation’s Transformation Agenda and vision 20:20:20

10) Youth Entrepreneur Support Program (YES-P)

This program is part of BOI’s aim to address the disturbing case of youth employment in Nigeria by promoting the capacity of youths and funding their enterprise ideas.

The YES program focuses at equipping youths with the proper skills and knowledge to be self employed. Those who will participate will be drawn from young aspiring entrepreneurs between the ages of 18 and 35 years who are filled with innovative ideas and have attained a minimum educational qualification of Ordinary National Diploma (OND).

Applicants are expected to register online for this program and provide accurate answers to the questions involved. Such answers enable determining the applicants for the program.

The trainings which are done in class will be delivered by BOI accredited partner training institutes and this shall take place on a two year basis at selected places across the six geo political zones of Nigeria. The last evaluation and selection of candidates that will qualify for funding will be made afterwards.

11) Diamon- Crest for Youth Education Foundation

The function of this of organization is to enhance and offer quality education for the youth. They also function to promote ideals for national and international unity through education.

They encourage good social relationship among the youth through regular educational activities. Workshops and seminars are provided to promote the efficiency and professionalism among teachers and educators.

They encourage excellence through seasonal academic contests. Youth education provide sponsorship and scholarship. Morals and proper social conduct are encouraged.
