In preparation for the yuletide season, Inspector General of Police Olukayode Egbetokun has issued a directive to Commissioners of Police and Tactical Commanders across Nigeria to ensure the deployment of adequate personnel and resources. The IG specifically emphasized that the deployment should extend to recreational and picnic centers, which are expected to attract a significant number of fun-seekers during the holiday season. The objective is to provide a safe and secure environment for those participating in festive activities.
This directive was disclosed to the public by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in a statement issued on Thursday. The move indicates the Nigerian Police Force’s commitment to proactively addressing security concerns during major public holidays, a time when there is often an uptick in social activities and, consequently, a potential increase in security challenges.
