Apple wants to take over your home with new iPad-like device, report claims

Apple’s second-generation HomePod, which was released yesterday, could be the start of a new smart home expansion of Apple’s lineup.Information Guide Nigeria

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman(Opens in a new tab), Apple is working on a low-cost, iPad-like device that will allow you to control various smart home functions such as thermostats and lights. According to the report, it will also be able to display video and manage FaceTime chats.

The device’s specifications are scarce, except that it will be “essentially a low-end iPad” that can be magnetically attached to walls or perhaps your fridge door. Yes, it sounds similar to what Amazon and Google already offer with their Echo Show and Nest Hub products, but expect Apple to put its own Apple-y spin on the device. There is no word on pricing, but it is reasonable to expect something comparable to the cheapest iPad (currently $329) or less.NYSC Portal

The report also claims that Apple is considering developing larger smart-home displays, though no further details are provided.

Finally, an all-in-one device that combines Apple TV and HomePod into one device (with the addition of a camera) may still be in the works, but it will not be available anytime soon.JAMB Result
